Permanent Mold Casting

Best Of Both Worlds With Permanent Mold

Mumford Metal Casting brings together many of the benefits of both die casting and sand casting in the process of permanent mold casting. Throughout the decades, we continue to invest in the breadth of equipment and technology to create dies that can be reused for several thousand cycles, in order to meet the criteria for quality parts and respond to customers’ budget and timetable needs.

Advantages

  • Better mechanical properties, can be heat treated
  • Homogeneous grain structure and chemical composition
  • Low shrinkage and gas porosity
  • Good surface quality
  • Lower cost tooling compared to high-pressure die casting
  • Can utilize sand cores for complex shapes and internal passages

Solutions

  • Typically used for mid-volume to high-volume production of non-ferrous metal parts with uniform wall thickness
  • Ability to heat treat castings to improve mechanical properties
  • Often used in industrial, agricultural, medical and automotive applications
